Pandemic has definitely put us in a tough position with the sudden lockdown, we were prepared for the lockdown but not for the shutting down of our favorite restaurants. We waited and waited for them to open, but because of the situation the government had no option but to shut down all the commercial spaces, which included restaurants. I remember watching all my favorite dishes recipe videos on youtube from morning to evening just to get a glimpse of it. Days passed by, months passed by still no hope of opening restaurants any time soon. I think that’s when most of the people started to prepare. In our home it was in the first month of lockdown, It started with the Biryani. We wanted to try out a new recipe, and we didn't want our parents to help us, only because we (cousins) wanted the whole credit for making it. Though it took more time than usual, the Biryani turned out to be really good. From that we got the boost. From Dalgona to Turkish Milkcakes, everything was on the list. As a person who goes out to eat very often, it really put me in a tough position, that’s when I started to make things which I crave for one after the other. The first one to try was chicken pizza, to my surprise and my families surprise it was really good, the crust was a little hard, but tasted good. So, obviously our confidence will be skyrocketed.

As a person who is terrible at baking, I never tried to bake anything but like we all know pandemic left us no option but to have all the time to spend. So the next thing to try was Brownies and Doughnuts. Brownies were terrible, even then my whole family had it. This is the exact situation we were put in because of the pandemic, we want things so badly that we are even ready to compromise the quality for it. Doughnuts went out okayish, but for that also like I said, praises were all I got.

Turkish Milk Cakes and Pasta were the most challenging for me to make, but even though they turned out good. If it was not for the pandemic I would have never even tried to make any of it for sure. I am pretty sure that it’s not just me. The most important thing we learned during the pandemic that we definitely get ‘superpowers’ in times of need. Some people say that it’s our will to achieve something but if we really look into it, It’s not just about the will to get what we need, sometimes it’s just about the happiness we get from it.
