It is quite riveting to speculate about the multiple capabilities the human mind expertise in, and only when the environment calls for it we become Master of all Trades!

A classic epitome of this is the surge of the Coronavirus which was predicted as a pandemic, for it spread faster than a high school rumour. It put the entire world at an impasse, and several families could not cope up with rationing and keeping their budgets intact.

Eating outside and ordering from restaurants became impossible, and it looked as if we were advancing towards dystopia, considering how most of the streets looked like a ghost town. This also developed into an arena for togetherness and learning to experiment with food and for a lot of us to take it to our Social Media platforms.

Figure 1: Food inspired by family.

People were on a rave where they started creating content on recipes, trying out different cuisines and aesthetically, posting them on social media and on reels. They sculpted themselves to be amateur Chef’s, and it helped them balance out their Mental Health. The Internet was resounding with food bloggers, content creators, YouTube channels on cooking and recipes, and all kinds of food content.

A few others followed into the food challenge where they would nominate their friends and were expected to cook dishes every day. This too attracted celebrities, and they joined the challenge as well. The interesting angle that few noted was about the gender association to that of cooking and how it’s been conditioned that, “Cooking, is a Woman’s job and that Men don’t belong in the Kitchen”. This dogma is deeply rooted in most of our societies consciously, and the pandemic brought about changes to this.

Figure 2: Keep em' burgers coming.

It made many think about the real-time struggles of homemakers and how we’ve always taken them for granted and often never respected them for who they are and what they do. The Pandemic changed the lifestyle all of us lead and likewise helped us unlearn constructs we grew up seeing and adapting.

After all, Thanos was probably correct? The Universe needed correction and Balance and the Pandemic is Inevitable.
