The world of hustle and bustle has been shifted to a slow and steady pace with the Covid-19 going on a world tour. This pandemic has made everyone stay indoors, most of them with their families and friends, and some alone. People used to flee in a hurry with a quick bite for breakfast or skip food whenever they ran short of time. Now that everyone has to adapt to the ‘new normal’, the biggest challenge faced in most cases is that- cooking yourself. When few started taking it as a new adventurous experience, some began to find it hard to juggle between their work from home and cooking at the same time. It is certainly a challenge for those who are not so delightful at cooking and for those who were dependent on outside food. The young people who followed celebrities ardently on social media started taking up challenges like ‘Dalgona coffee challenge’ to stay updated with the trend. These young people are the domineering culinary enthusiasts to delve into the kitchen during this lockdown.

Cooking became a lost art in recent years since everyone lives a busier life than the others. From trying out new recipes with the help of social media to following the family’s unique recipes, this lockdown has made it all. A South-Indian family residing in the US asserted that they got an ample amount of time to learn the traditional recipes from their family members and to cook those, only to taste and reminisce about their home-food.

A 19-year-old college student says “I had barely cooked before this lockdown, and now I’m spending much of my leisure time in the kitchen. It’s because I find happiness in cooking.” Yes! It’s true that most of the people who started cooking during the past few months of lockdown find it refreshing and consider it a stress-buster. Few others started trying their hands at cooking to find an alternative as they started missing eating outside food. “Trying out an assortment of recipes like Pizza, Schezwan Fried Rice, Dum Briyani, Parotta, Paani Puri, and much more satiated my cravings to an extent,” says another youngster. If it was not for the pandemic, the set of young people getting into the kitchen and experiencing the art of cooking had been a poor prospect.
