Farming – a family get-together!

While the world is shut inside the house for a longer period, there came the possibility for many families to spend some quality together. In this busy world there came a pause, which in a way turned for many families to spend time among themselves. Here is a family who had spent a wonderful time during this pandemic time through farming. The farm was maintained by the eldest family member two years back. Only visits were done at times. Since there was a lot of time in the pandemic, the family together thought to visit the farm. Also, while the visit they thought to harvest tapioca, and also it is interesting that each and every one of the family was actively taking part in this process. One of the girls named Gayathri from the family aged 25 says, “It was a pleasure to have spent quality time with my family members, also I learned to maintain the crops from the beginning”. That was really interesting to know about the process of seeding, they started to visit the farm frequently.

A total of ten members are living together and they prepare lunch for the day and go to the farm. They stay for the whole day and do the watering and everything, this is also a part of relaxation for them. This became their favourite spot to get out of home and it felt like a picnic for them. Since they had frequent visits, they found it more relaxing and they all loved to look after their farm.

This was like investing my time in the new thing, says a 20-year-old named Nive, from the family. She found it very useful as she learnt a new process in this lockdown. Though she might not stay there for a long time since she needs to move for her studies, she is in the thought of visiting it whenever she gets free time in the future.

So, altogether had been enjoying together in their farm where simultaneously they were looking after their farms and spending a beautiful time together. The wonderful part in this is the harvesting time, where they found giant tapiaco’s. The whole family was happy during the harvesting season, initially, the tapiaco’s would reach their home and nobody had any clue of its process. Only after involving themselves in this lockdown period, they found immense happiness while looking at the harvested tapioca.
